This is the ancient capital rests of the Chimu culture; this military, and warrior people had a very quick expansion, and were known for being ruthless. This is the most impressive pre-Hispanic city of the entire continent, and the construction made of adobe (dried sludge) has resisted well to the pass of the time. Unfortunately, the bad climate has largely contributed to the devastation: the El Niño climate phenomenon and the torrential rains destroyed several parts of the city according to historians.  Gold and silver treasures, gathered during the conquests, have been scattered with the Spanish invasion. Today, the site is still immense (more than 14 km²) and the different citadels (districts) are compounded of several edifices available to be visited; for instance, an administrative palace, a temple dedicated to the Sun, funeral steles and tombs…
